Can I change my mind and just pay the speeding ticket?

In August, I got a $150 speeding ticket and I felt it was unfairly issued, so I requested an appeal. On November 13th, I was notified by mail that my requested had been scheduled for December 11th. Long story short, I have a prior commitment on this day that is worth far more than $150 and I want to just go ahead and pay the ticket. I live in Massachusetts.

How do I go about doing this at this stage? Will I be fined for changing my mind?

Call the Clerk of the Court and talk to them about it. They might move your date, if you have a Valid reason (valid to the court, not just you). Good luck!
Just send the money in and get a hold of the office and say nevermind you decided to pay it.
