How long to change mind on car purchase in texas?

persistent sales person talked me into signing contract of 18% interest when my credit union would be less. I called them to cancel and they said I had to bring a check for full amount of car. I have not received the car yet.

Sounds like you own a car at 18% interest. You shoudl have responded to a persistent salesperson with happy feet...on out the door!

As a fellow Texan, I can tell you such a law does not exist--the signs are present at any dealer.

NO CAR RETURNS!

There is no federal law requiring a car dealer or a person selling a car to take a car back.

Let me repeat that - there is no federal law requiring a dealer or seller to take a car back - you don't have 24 hours during which you can change your mind, you don't have three days to reconsider - when you buy a car it becomes your property.

In most states, you must actually take possession of the car before it is a done deal. I don't know about Texas. You'll have to check with your state DMV.

However, the dealer will try every trick and tell every lie he knows to try to save the deal. So, don't expect it to be easy to cancel the deal.

If there is no take-possession law in Texas, you have NO days or hours to cancel a car deal. It keeps getting spread around the Internet that there is a 3-day or 72-hour period in which you can change your mind on a car purchase. Unfortunately, this is NOT true. There are no such laws for car purchases.
If you have not taken possession you may have some wiggle room.

Your contract at 18% is not consistent with you bringing a check for the full amount.

Are they saying you can get out of the 18% by bringing a check from your bank or what ?

Im guessing you may be able to get out of this deal.

But, if you signed a contract, that might be sufficient for the dealer to get paid in which case he doesn't care if you pick up the car or not.

Why didn't you pick up the car ?
