Dean sucks. It's a completely different company vs back in Dime's day. They spend an awful lot of time exploiting his name, though!
You should always consider sound before looks.... but in this case you get the best of both worlds... Gibson!

It's possible to take an Epiphone and replace pickups, etc and have it sound just about as good as any Gibson... but the Gibson will still be made, on average, with better wood, better construction techniques, etc.
