Changing mind on coucil exchange?

i signed a coucil exchange agreement with my cousin last wednesday, yesterday i changed my mind, i dont want to move now, i rang the housing yesterday and asked them where i stood, could i change my mind, she asked and said it was ok they could not force me to move but i had to tell my cousin, i told my cousin last night she was not happy but said ok. today i got a call from an housing officer asking me why i had changed my mind, i told her my son didnt want to move and that he would rarther walk the streets, and just that i had changed my mind, it never said anything in the contract that i wasnt allowed to change my mind, my cousin has rang me and told me she has a brief onto it and was taking it all the way as she wanted to move into my home, i have rang the advice line and they have told me that the council cannot throw me out of my property, but legally they arent too sure how far my cousin can go with it, can anyone tell me have they heard of this thing happening?
Changing mind on coucil exchange?
Hi,

I think your best bet is to go to the Citizens Advice Bureau with all the things you have about this exchange - even better get a meeting with someone whom works for the housing at your council.

They will have come across this before and will have procedures of what happens.

Because a contract has been signed between you she may have a right to go ahead and sue as the contract has been broken but it is important to look at contract to see if you have a period in which you can change mind etc.

They can't legally move you, I don't think, as you still paying rent on property and it still in your name.

I not sure if you will have to pay anything to your cousin but I advise you to get legal help.

Good luck!
